Dear All,

What a momentous day it was in Australia yesterday. As I listened to the apology with fellow workers at a gathering to watch it live from Parliament, a deep deep silence filled our room –so potent – some rearrangement of the fabric of reality was taking place – it feels to me as I try to give it words

The national news remarked on the depth of the silence in Parliament as the apology was given, saying it was a silence that had never been experienced there before.

An amazing thing – that such a silence is experienced across the nation, and remarked upon!

And so many tears fell – as people gathered everywhere to listen, in town squares, schools, workplaces, and homes

I have been listening to interviews of Aboriginal people speak of their response to the apology. I have heard many talk of the feeling of a burden been lifted from them, of a sense that this day is the first day they can begin to heal, that their heart has opened.

Also, from some there is reservation, a waiting to see what actions follow,

And the dialogue continues between us all, many different voices –

Yes to the Dreaming!

Awed, grateful,
Love, Penny
