Many of us feel that we can’t do much to change our world, that it is up to our leaders, and the most we can do is elect better leaders. However, each of us has, within himself, incredible ability and immense power to facilitate world changes, by making changes in ourselves and in the communities where we live.
In this Worldwork seminar, we will utilize Process Oriented Psychology techniques to explore our abilities and powers to facilitate changes. We will discover the unique characteristics that each of us brings to this work, and learn how to draw on them in implementing change.
We will also explore our inner direction and how we can at any moment, anywhere, pick up our participant facilitator role, and move towards a position from which we can make changes.
The seminar will bring together Arab Israelis, Palestinians, Jewish Israelis, Process Work students from around the world and other participants from many different countries who are interested in making a world change, coming to support and be part of the process.
All of us will be together the first three days of the seminar. On the 4th day, we will break up into subgroups to focus on internal community conflicts of the Jewish-Israeli community, the Palestinian community and the Arab-Israeli community. International attendees are welcome to observe the process or participate in either group.
This seminar will focus on:
- Art, creativity, and conflict resolution
- Religion, spirituality, war and peacemaking
- The basics of Worldwork methods of conflict facilitation
- Earth based, indigenous, shamanistic methods of facilitation
- Tools to break cycles of revenge
- Working with trauma in ourselves, our loved ones, our clients, our community
- The power of the participant facilitator
- Creation of conflict facilitation teams
- Working with conflicts inside ourselves and inside our own identified communities
Facilitators
Dr. Najah Mansara, from the Palestinian Authority, is a facilitator, social activist, and trainer; has presented workshops in many different topics of her expertise, including the effects of the Israeli Palestinian conflict on children and families, and other aspects of working with trauma.
Gary Reiss LCSW, PhD, certified trainer in Process Oriented Psychology. He is the author of Beyond War and Peace in the Arab Israeli Conflict, and four other books. He has three new books coming out in 2009. Dr. Reiss has led conflict work groups in Israel with Israelis and Palestinians. Dr. Reiss has also worked with conflict between Orthodox and Secular Jews, and between different factions in the Druze community. He has worked in the Middle East for twelve years, and teaches Process Oriented Psychology worldwide. Facilitation Team will consist of Diplomats in Process Work and Process Work students.
