The Greeks :-)

‘Seeds’ is a new programme that comes out of CFOR’s belief in the capacity of individuals, organizations and whole communities to make a difference to Europe and this world. CFOR is supporting the goals of the European Union to strengthen intercultural dialogue, awareness of diversity and unity, as well the personal and collective creative processes needed to shape our multicultural societies. This workshop is funded by the EU/ Grundtvig. If you live in a European country, outside the UK, you can apply to CFOR for full support, including the seminar fee, transportation and accommodation.

The aim of the workshop, From Seed to Fulfillment: Creating our Future, is to enable you to catch the seeds of your wildest ideas and sense of what is possible, and to learn to discover how to support your deepest dreams to come to life, fulfillment and action in the world.

“Seeds” helps you to explore your personal pattern for finding your way from dream to fulfillment. People often long to find a way to both feel in touch with their deepest dreams and at the same time to be active and make a contribution. This congruence between being centered and in touch with one’s essence and creativity while being engaged with community and work is a great privilege if you can find it.

One of the toughest challenges we face in society is hopelessness, the belief that our problems are just so great, whether our personal problems or those of the society and the whole world, that we can never make a difference. The hopelessness gets compounded on one hand by pain and oppression, and on the other hand by thinking “its not my problem”. Many people feel that in order to take part in society they have to put aside their true dreams and deepest nature to ‘adapt’ or get by. This leads to a tragic loss of creativity and diversity, for individuals and for society.

We will actively seek a diverse group of participants on the course in respect to country where you are resident, your organization, profession or occupation, culture, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, economics, age, health and more.

Perhaps what will most unite all the participants on the course will be a deep-seated interest in how one’s personal process of development leads to making a contribution to one’s community, Europe and the world.

We are ever inspired by the ideas and tools of Process Work – which allow you to link up to transformative processes driving you, shaping your personal life, your organisation, your community, and the collective movements of our times.

During the course:

  • Catch a seed or dream, and help it reach fulfillment, without losing the joy that was at the start
  • Discover the underlying orientation and direction of your learning from life experiences
  • Practice methods of working with internalised oppression, blocks and critics
  • Stay close to the essence of your project, while being open to feedback, surprise and change
  • Discover your personal patterns of creativity, whether expressive or internal using visual, auditory, proprioceptive and movement processes
  • Bridge your inner world and outer context, and the troubles Link your personal process with others in relationship, community and social movements
  • Appreciate endings and moments of completion, and the beginning of something new.

For more information, to recommend someone or apply, contact Eva as soon as possible. The application will be fairly short. Eva will gladly help you by telephone, if you have questions. We expect to make decisions before the end of March. You can reach Eva on Eva(at)cfor.info

… I discovered new land in myself
… fascinated, thankful
… I feel more freedom, good air, more oxygen
…I am leaving more like a playful child
…I feel calm, warmth inside
…I found courage to travel all around the place, and this makes me happy
…I am leaving with more understanding of myself
… relief, and more connection to the earth

…I got in contact with my heart, found a source of calmness and energy in my body
… more rooted, and with respect with something bigger
… closer to myself, bigger connection with myself
… relaxation, meditation and the smell of the air after rain
… I appreciated traveling to different ‘earth spots’ and am very surprised at the things I found there
…inspired, many possibilities opened up for me
… I am leaving with a new point of view and playfulness, with some kind of personal growth
… as if I came home after a good hike, relaxed and satisfied
… i found depth, and that I can find answers inside of myself
… fullness, as if I opened a window and found a universe
… feeling supported that I am doing something right, and also found new tools to make my relationship better
… thankful for new approaches, confirmation of something that I had not named before

Για 25η φορά γίνεται το Intensive Course in Process Work, στο Portland των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών!

Annual Process Work Intensive Course 2010
January 18 – February 19, 2010 Portland, Oregon

The Process Work Institute would like to invite you to the 25th Annual Intensive Course in Process Work, which will be held at the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon from January 18-February 19, 2010. The course offers a unique opportunity to learn Process Work in an intensive format and within an international group setting. The course includes Process Work’s many applications and its most recent developments, and it is designed as an adult learning event. Participants will learn and study together by means of theory, experiential exercises, and group processes. Since the course attracts students from many nationalities, ethnic groups, and religious backgrounds, issues such as multiculturalism, diversity, and community building are part of the learning experience.

What is Process Work?

Process Work is an awareness practice that follows nature and the unique expression of what is trying to happen. It is an innovative approach to individual and collective change, which brings psychology, spirituality, social activism, and creative expression together into a single paradigm. Process Work was developed in the 1970s and 80s by Dr. Arnold Mindell. At the time, Dr. Mindell was a Jungian analyst, who began researching illness as a meaningful expression of the unconscious mind. He discovered that the dreaming process manifests not only in nighttime dreams but also in physical symptoms, relationship difficulties, addictions, extreme states of consciousness, and social tensions.

The Process Work paradigm believes that approaching these dreamlike processes with openness and respect can lead to new insights and create energetic shifts that are vital for our development. With its roots in Jungian psychology, philosophical Taoism, and modern physics, Process Work is based on the assumption that the solution to a problem is contained within the disturbance itself, and that within the problems of today lie solutions for tomorrow. Recent developments in Process Work theory have deepened the connection between quantum physics and process-oriented awareness training through the concepts of sentient reality and earth-based psychology.

The Intensive Course The Intensive course offers a comprehensive beginning training in essential process work philosophy, skills, and metaskills and includes topics such as dream work, body work, relationship work, inner work, large group work, and working with non-ordinary states of consciousness and addictions. Throughout the five weeks, classes are held Mondays-Fridays and are taught by different teaching teams. Morning classes focus on basic applications of Process Work, and afternoon classes help participants to further their understanding of the material by focusing on theory, inner work, group process, and skills training.

No classes are held on Friday mornings, but the Intensive course joins with the larger community for Arny Mindell’s class on Friday afternoons. This provides Intensive participants and the larger Process Work community with an opportunity to meet. Arny’s classes are an integral part of the Intensive course and offer an exciting completion to each week’s studies. In addition to classes, each participant will be in a small group that meets twice a week and provides an intimate container for learning and mutual support. While not included in the price of the tuition, private therapy is highly recommended in order to deepen your personal experience of the large group. Both diplomats and phase two students will be available for scheduling personal therapy sessions.

Process Work trainers and diplomats are certified Process-oriented therapists, group facilitators, and teachers, who conduct seminars and training workshops throughout the world. Trainers hold academic degrees in fields such as psychology, medicine, theology, art, physics and other disciplines.

“Worldwork 2008 London was an amazing experience…”

The Worldwork 2008 conference,’ Doorways to Diversity, Seeking a Home in the World; Processing conflicts around borders and boundaries in culturally diverse societies’ took place in the Royal National Hotel in the centre of London in April 2008.
London with its amazingly diverse population, a long history of migration and a colonial legacy was the ideal spot to host the 11th Worldwork with the theme of finding ‘home’ in the midst of a diverse and ever changing world around us, in our inner life, outer relationships, communities and nations.

It was an extraordinary, diverse, dynamic and transforming experience. Some 420 people gathered from 38 countries and nations. This large and diverse group created an exciting and creative atmosphere through which issues related to racism, colonialism, genocide, war, violence, trauma, gender, sexual orientation, economics, language, hope and hopelessness were worked on deeply. As well as processing the issues around our diverse personal and collective histories and present time, we also learned and practiced cutting edge methods of Worldwork facilitation including the principle and practice of ‘deep democracy’.

There were also plenty of opportunities for engaging and networking with others as well as to observe, and take time for reflection and integration of the learning and experience. There was awareness for many of the participants on how we contribute to the polarisation of conflicts, and how we can contribute to conflict resolution and make a difference in our communities.
Many commented that this was the most successful Worldwork conference to date in terms of the diversity represented, the hearing of many different voices and the possibilities created. Amy and Arnold Mindell (the co- founders of Process Work), a team of 70 facilitating staff members and an organizing team headed by Arlene Audergon, Jean Claude Audergon, Anup Karia and Stanya Studentova worked round the clock so that everybody could feel at home. Each day, in the mornings, the large group gathered. We would first focus on learning different aspects of Worldwork theory and skills for facilitating multi cultural communication and conflict resolution, and then have a facilitated large group interaction on pressing issues that the group chose.

Facilitated with experience and belief in the potential wisdom within community, these large group interactions went into extremely difficult and emotional territory – recognising that with facilitation, we are able to not only re-create conflict, but facilitate and transform our awareness and find new pathways forward.

After lunch there were Theory sessions, and special interest ‘Hot Topics’ sessions. The Theory presentations were about the orientation, concepts and methods of Process Work and Worldwork The ‘Hot Topics’ sessions revolved around a selected central topic, and included 2 to 3 informative and succinct presentations, followed by discussions among the presenters and group.

The participants also met daily in small closed groups of about 15 people with 2 facilitators which provided opportunities to go deeper into the morning themes, practice and engage with each other in a more intimate space as well as process issues personally and in relationship. In the early evening, everyone met again in the large group and a smaller sub group would work in the middle in a ‘fish bowl style’ on specific issues that were relevant both to that group and also on behalf of the large group.

The 420 participants from many cultures and countries became a microcosm of the larger society developing awareness personally and as facilitators for situations they encounter. The powerful group processes that took place included those that concerned multiculturalism, race, migration and asylum. We also worked on issues around colonialism, genocide and the power of Aboriginal peoples from the Americas and Australia. There were intense interactions around issues of gender, abuse and power and also around economics and disparity in wealth. On one of the days the group worked intensely on collective trauma through the channels of movement, sound and theatre.

There were multi cultural sub groups who took the opportunity to work deeply together, including people from Greek and Turkish backgrounds working on long-standing conflicts ; South Africans and Australians working on the pain of the past and present, as well as extraordinary hope for the future. There was a powerful group of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people working on issues of love, internalized and external oppression.
There were opportunities for each participant to have one to one meetings with a Worldwork staff member, for the purpose of exploring personal reactions and learning, and to explore how to specifically apply the learning in one’s own organizational and community context. All participants also had access to a member of the ‘heart team’ who were Worldwork staff members on hand to provide emotional support throughout the conference.

Awareness of language is always a central Worldwork issue as the main language for the Worldwork conferences is English, although most participants do not speak English as their first language. For participants who were not fluent in English, there were ‘interpreting spots’ or ‘islands’ in the main room. Rather than formal interpreting, it was set up so that people who were able to interpret could do this with the help of simple and effective sound technology. Those who needed could gather at these ‘islands and were able to fully participate. The languages which were interpreted included Japanese, Greek, German, Spanish, Slovak, Turkish and Polish. A hearing impaired participant had a ‘My Link’ wireless hearing device that was spontaneously tied to a stick that could be easily passed along with the microphones, making it possible for her to fully participate. A dedicated sound team who worked flexibly and round the clock made a huge difference to our communication overall.

In the evenings there were a multitude of wonderful activities to choose from including theatre, music, movement, yoga, film presentations and facilitated dialogues. Playback NYC, together with Playback players from the UK and Switzerland offered fantastic playback theatre and hip hop. We also had a fabulous dance evening with a great DJ!

The overall experience could best be described as one of immersion into a world of diversity, community and learning for six days. We would love you to browse through and enjoy the rest of the pages on this website to give you more information about Worldwork and to share some of the experience.
